| Before Using Your Carrier The examples given here are only suggestions. You should decide the best way for you to tie the carrier and support your child, while not causing strain on your body while wearing the carrier/child. It’s the responsibility of the wearer to exercise caution while using the carrier. Always be sure your child is safe and can breath while using this carrier. This carrier should be used with common sense. Be sure there are no tears, snags, or flaws in the carrier before each use. This carrier should NOT be use as OR in place of a safety device. Do not wear your baby while cooking or operating machinery. Do not wear your baby while participating in high-risk activities. This could lead to injury to your child. Become familiar with the carrier before attempting to place your child in the carrier. Learn how to tie the carrier, support your child while transitioning to and from the carrier, and be sure your child can breathe while in the carrier. If you are uncomfortable supporting your child while trying to tie the carrier, ask another adult to help you until you become comfortable with the motions required to support the child while tying the carrier. It will take practice to master the steps, but you should eventually become proficient at supporting you child and tying the straps. While using this carrier, be sure you are comfortable. You should not feel strain on your shoulders, neck, back. If you do feel strain, reposition the fabric and spread it out in order to distribute the weight over your body. While walking, be sure you can clearly see where you are stepping. Use handrails while on stairs/escalators and exercise caution when near water. The Art of Baby Wearing For smaller babies, you may want to roll the bottom of the carrier a few times to shorten the length of the body of the carrier. Front Carry Place the carrier against the front of your body. Tie the waist straps around your waist. You can tie the straps in the back or wrap the straps around your body and tie them in the front. Pick up your LittleOne and hold him/her facing you. Place one leg on one side of your body and the other on the other side of your body. While holding your child with one hand, pull the body of the carrier between your LittleOne’s legs and over his/her back, and then guide the shoulder straps over your shoulders. Cross the shoulder straps, like an “X” across your back. Bring the straps to the front and tie securely. During this step, I usually lift my son up and gently pull the shoulder straps to make sure they will be secure when I tie them under his bottom. With some practice, you’ll figure out what works best for you and your child. Back Carry Place the carrier so that the body of the carrier is on your back side and tie the waist straps in the front or the back. I use mine both ways. Pick your LittleOne up and place him/her on your back, above the body of the carrier and waist straps. While supporting your child with one hand, pull the body of the carrier and shoulder straps up and over your child. The shoulder straps should be under his/her arms. Continue to pull the shoulder straps over your shoulder, then under your arms, and back behind you. Tie the shoulder straps in the back or wrap them around your body and tie them in the front. You can also cross them like an “X” in the front. Personally, that doesn’t work for me! Hip Carry The hip carry is similar to the front carry. All you are doing is shifting the weight of the child to your hip. Place the carrier on either hip and tie the waist straps around your waist. Pick up your LittleOne and hold him/her on the hip with the carrier. Your child should be facing you. While holding your child with one hand, pull the body of the carrier between your LittleOne’s legs and over his/her back. Guide the shoulder straps over your opposing shoulder. Cross them like an “X”. Tie them securely under your LittleOne’s bottom. Care Instructions Our carriers are made of natural and organic fabrics. Proper care of these fabrics is important to keep your carrier functional and looking its best. To clean the carrier, wash in cold water and lay flat to dry. You may use an iron to press the fabric if needed. Be sure the iron is set to the level appropriate for the fabric. |
